Estonia-based Skeleton Technologies, which develops high-power energy-storage systems for AI data centres and industrial applications, has secured a strategic investment of more than $100 million from Siemens AG, pushing its valuation above $1 billion.
- Founded in 2009, Skeleton Technologies develops supercapacitors designed to manage rapid fluctuations in electricity demand, helping stabilise power supply and protect electrical equipment.
- In May 2026, the firm announced the first close of a larger funding round at €33 million to scale its energy-storage solutions and expand manufacturing capacity in Europe and the United States.
Details of the deal
- The investment will support Skeleton Technologies’ US manufacturing expansion, including the production of energy-storage cells and complete systems, as well as research and development activities in Silicon Valley.
- Under the agreement, Siemens will hold exclusive global rights to sell and scale Skeleton’s products in the data-centre market. The German technology group plans to integrate the company’s supercapacitor technology into its electrical infrastructure portfolio, covering applications from grid connections to server racks.
- Siemens has worked with Skeleton as a technology partner since 2022 and became an investor in 2023. The latest deal builds on this relationship as Siemens expands its offering for AI data centres.
