UK-based Sainaptic, an edtech startup developing AI-assisted assessment tools for exam boards and training providers, has raised £1 million in a seed funding round co-led by Cornerstone VC and Ufi Ventures, with participation from Elm Venture Partners and Brighteye Ventures.
- Founded in 2020 by Kavitha Ravindran and Rajeshwari Iyer, Sainaptic develops AI-powered tools to automate the marking of vocational and professional qualifications, including written assignments, reports, presentations and work-based assessments.
- Its technology aims to reduce marking time while maintaining accuracy and consistency, helping assessment providers deliver feedback faster and lower operational costs.
- According to the company, its AI models have reduced marking times for some qualifications from 45 minutes to eight seconds.
Details of the deal
- The funding announcement coincides with a new partnership with Skilltech Solutions, an assessment management software provider, to integrate Sainaptic’s AI models into its platform and offer AI-assisted portfolio marking to apprenticeship assessment organisations.
- With the fresh capital, Sainaptic plans to expand its product offering into quality assurance, analytics and personalised assessments, while growing its engineering, product and sales teams. The joint solution with Skilltech is expected to become available to participating organisations in the first quarter of 2027.
