Sheffield-based firm Pixel-Flo, which is developing a scalable manufacturing process for microLED displays, has secured £5.25 million in seed funding from Northern Gritstone, SCVC, Parkwalk, and HTGF.
- Founded in 2023 by Rick Smith, Suneal Ghataora, and Simon Jones, Pixel-Flo develops manufacturing technology for microLED displays.
- The company is developing Continuous-Flo™, a manufacturing technology for assembling microLED displays. Instead of using traditional robotic "pick-and-place" methods to position each tiny LED individually, the process suspends microLED chips in a special liquid. The chips are then guided into the correct positions on the display using patterned surfaces and fluid forces, making production faster and easier to scale.
- The funding round aims to support Pixel-Flo’s transition from laboratory development to industrial-scale production, expand its team, and enable customer evaluation and collaboration ahead of commercial deployment.
