Cologne-based legaltech firm JUPUS, which develops AI software to automate administrative and operational work for law firms, has secured €13 million in Series A funding from Semapa Next, with participation from NRW.BANK, Acton Capital, and High-Tech Gründerfonds.
- Founded in 2021 by René Fergen and Ralf Riesen, JUPUS develops AI software for law firms that automates administrative and operational legal work.
- The platform is designed to handle tasks across the full lifecycle of a legal case, including client intake and call handling through an AI phone assistant, case structuring and data collection via digital questionnaires and chat-based intake, and document and legal work support such as drafting, analyzing, and structuring legal documents.
- Instead of replacing lawyers, the system is intended to reduce manual workload by automating repetitive tasks like client communication, file preparation, and document drafting.
- The software is currently used by more than 2,000 lawyers in Germany and processes thousands of new cases every day.
Details of the deal
- The company plans to use the investment to further develop its AI-powered legal platform, accelerate growth in Germany, and expand its presence across Europe, helping more law firms automate administrative work and improve efficiency.
