Polish deeptech startup Fluence Technology raises over €6.5M for its laser systems

Warsaw-based deeptech company Fluence Technology, a developer and manufacturer of cutting-edge fiber-based femtosecond lasers for industrial, medical, and scientific applications, has secured over €6.5 million (PLN 28 million) in funding to accelerate its global expansion.

  • Launched in 2016 by Dr. Michał Nejbauer, Prof. Yuriy Stepanenko, Dr. Piotr Skibiński, and Dr. Tomasz Kardaś, Fluence Technology designs and produces ultrafast fiber-based lasers that deliver femtosecond pulses with exceptional stability and minimal maintenance.
  • Their lasers are applied in semiconductor manufacturing, microelectronics, photonics, and medical devices, enabling highly precise micromachining of materials such as silicon, gallium nitride, and glass.
  • Once limited to research laboratories, Fluence’s technology now facilitates the production of microvias in chips and displays as well as intricate surface structuring. The company sells its products in over 20 countries, with a strong presence in East Asia and the US.

Details of the deal

  • The investors are Vinci S.A., Radix Ventures, JR Holding, Altamira, Vigo Ventures, Bitspiration Booster, and private investors, including Zbigniew Łukasiak.

“The company produces next-generation lasers already used in many cutting-edge industries. Moreover, the area of novel applications is rapidly expanding, including sectors related to security, dual-use, space, and military. The unique nature of Fluence’s technology and its primary application areas align perfectly with our portfolio strategy," claims Bartosz Drabikowski, CEO of Vinci S.A.

  • Fluence Technology will use the fresh capital to advance its laser technologies, scale internationally, expand applications across industrial, medical, and scientific sectors, and accelerate growth in semiconductor, consumer electronics, and dual-use markets.

"The Polish market is not sufficiently developed to effectively commercialize such advanced solutions. Therefore, international expansion is crucial. The secured funding will allow us to scale our business and broaden application areas," CEO of Fluence Technology, Dr. Michał Nejbauer, commented.
