Dutch AI healthtech startup Ditto raises €7.6M led by Heal Capital

Rotterdam-based Ditto, which develops an AI-powered app that turns medical consultations and documents into clear, plain-language summaries for patients, has raised €7.6 million in a funding round led by Heal Capital, with participation from Optiverder and Rubio Impact Ventures.

  • Established in 2025 by Tobias Polak, Bart Voorn, and Merlijn van Breugel, Ditto develops an AI-based patient platform designed to help people better understand medical consultations and documents.
  • The system allows users to record doctor visits or upload medical letters, which are then processed into structured, plain-language summaries within minutes. These summaries can be translated into languages including English, Turkish, and Arabic, and are intended to make medical information easier to review, store, and share with trusted contacts.
  • The company says its product addresses a common issue in healthcare communication, with around 5 million people in the Netherlands reportedly leaving consultations without fully understanding the information provided. Since its launch, Ditto has reached nearly 100,000 users, with all data processed securely on EU servers and not stored centrally.

Details of the deal

  • With the fresh capital, the firm plans to expand its services across Europe and enhance its AI-powered tools to help patients better understand medical consultations, care instructions, and their overall healthcare journey, while also introducing new features that support both patients and their families in navigating healthcare more clearly and confidently.

"Hundreds of start-ups build AI that help doctors document and manage their work. Ditto builds the equivalent for patients, and its traction proves they have hit a nerve. We believe this will become the European platform for how people navigate their care," explaina Dr Lucas Mittelmeier from Heal Capital.
