Riga-based AI startup Desktop Commander has raised €1.1 million in a pre-seed round. The funding was led by 42CAP, with participation from BADideas.fund.
- Desktop Commander is building the open-source Desktop Commander MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that lets AI directly interact with a user's computer — managing files, running terminal tasks, and creating automations in plain language.
 - The platform helps founders, developers, and knowledge workers speed up workflows, build products, and connect local systems to AI models, handling complex tasks without the need for coding.
 - Built on Anthropic's MCP standard, it integrates safely with thousands of tools, turning any desktop into an AI-powered workspace that automates everyday tasks.
 - Founded in 2025 by Eduards Ruzga, Dmitrijs Sergejevs, and Lauris Lietavietis, Desktop Commander is already used daily by thousands of active users.
 - The €1.1 million pre-seed round will help the team bring coding-free automation to a wider audience, especially non-technical users. As of now, the startup is testing a paid beta version of the MCP framework, adding new features and improvements from early user feedback.
