Lisbon-based social networking platform Sqill, which collaborates with social teams to enhance their content creation and related processes, has raised €2 million to expand in the US and expand its team.
- Founded in 2021 by Rui Ascenso, Afonso Coimbra, and André Perdigão, Sqill is a social media suite with an AI-powered mobile video editor for social teams, enhancing content creation, scheduling, and creator management while ensuring on-brand and native platform appearance.
- The startup serves clients in Portugal, Spain, Brazil, and the US and has partnered with notable firms such as L’Oréal, Worten, MatchDay, CeraVe, VICHY, CRB, and La Roche-Posay.
Details of the deal
- The fresh funding round was backed by GED Ventures, a Portugal-based venture capital firm that invests in tech startups across Europe, the US, and LATAM.
- Several business angels participated in the round, including Tiago Gonçalves and Miguel Patrício from InnVentures (InnoWave); Pedro Silva Nunes from Audax Group; Armando Ribeiro Ferreira from EY; Domingos Cruz from CCA Law Firm.
- With the new capital, Sqill aims to target over 30 million social media teams worldwide, expand its workforce by recruiting for various tech positions in Portugal and the US, and further extend its US operations, having recently opened an office in Austin, Texas.
