Hungarian agritech scoutlabs raises $2M seed to develop digital insect monitoring solution

Budapest-based agritech startup scoutlabs, which is addressing a critical agricultural challenge by offering data-driven, sustainable pest control, has raised $2 million in a seed funding.

  • scoutlabs was founded in 2022 by Donat Posta and Jimmy Fong. The startup is developing a digital trap network for monitoring insect migration and swarming. This technology is planned to help farmers with crop-eating insects, speeding the shift to more environmentally friendly methods.
  • As the startup claims, each year insects destroy huge amounts of food grown by farmers, while most of the crop protection products remain ineffective. Now, these issues have gotten even worse due to climate changes. That's why scoutlabs' goal is to establish a field-level data-driven AI co-pilot that helps farmers get rid of the pests in a more sustainable way.
  • Investors in this round include Hungarian Interactive Venture Partners, the US SVG Ventures, Czech DEPO Ventures, and Hungarian Impact Ventures
  • Using the proceeds, scoutlabs is going to scale its solution on the markets of their presence — Hungarian, the UK, and the US.
