French healthcare startup Parallel raises $3.5M led by Frst

Paris healthcare startup Parallel, which develops AI agents for healthcare providers, has raised $3.5 million in a seed funding round. The investment was led by Frst, with support from Kima Ventures, Y Combinator, and Bpifrance.

  • Founded in 2024 by Paul Lafforgue and Thomas Sohet, Parallel, formerly known as Kiosk Medical, develops AI agents for healthcare providers to reduce administrative burdens in hospitals.
  • The company creates vertical AI agents that automate repetitive, time-consuming tasks, beginning with medical coding. By using generative AI, Parallel’s solution streamlines hospital operations, improves accuracy, and reduces the workload for medical staff, allowing them to focus more on patient care.
  • The AI agents interact with complex hospital software, automate workflows, and minimize manual labour, addressing inefficiencies in healthcare administration.

"AI agents can now interact with software like humans — navigating screens, clicking buttons, and entering data efficiently and accurately. In healthcare, where outdated systems and weak APIs have made automation challenging, this technology can finally bridge the gap," explains Paul Lafforgue, co-founder and CEO at Parallel.

Details of the deal

  • The seed round was led by Frst, a Paris-based firm managing over €200 million in assets. The firm has deployed more than €150 million into over 50 companies, which have collectively raised over €3 billion to date.

“Parallel is tackling one of the most overlooked, yet crucial problems in healthcare -administrative overload. Recent advances in AI enables a step-change in efficiency that was previously out of reach. By working with existing tools rather than replacing them, it also makes adoption much more practical for hospitals," claims Pierre Entremont, co-founder and Managing Partner at Frst.

  • Y Combinator, Bpifrance, Kima Ventures, Better Angle, and several business angels also joined the round.
  • The fresh capital raised will enable Parallel to expand its engineering team, accelerate hospital deployments, and lay the groundwork for the development of its next generation of AI agents.
  • The new agents will focus on addressing additional challenges in healthcare administration, further streamlining hospital operations, and improving efficiency across various departments.
