Czech-founded and San Francisco-based startup E2B, which provides a secure sandbox environment for safely running AI-generated code in applications, has raised $11.5 million in a seed funding round led by Decibel for code interpretation in AI applications.
- Founded in 2023 by Vasek Mlejnsky and Tomas Valenta, E2B is an open-source runtime designed for executing AI-generated code securely in cloud sandboxes. The platform allows developers to run everything from short code snippets to fully autonomous AI agents, making it ideal for a range of agentic and AI use cases.
- The startup is trusted by BlackBox AI, PGA, LandingAI, and Perplexity, which handles over 340 million searches every month and has integrated E2B into its products to provide advanced data analysis.
- To date, E2B has gained 10,000 developers, achieved 250,000 monthly downloads, and facilitated 7 million started sandboxes.
Details of the deal
- The seed round was led by Decibel, an American independent venture capital firm that collaborates with Cisco to offer early-stage investments. Czech fund KAYA VC and Sunflower Capital also participated in the financing.
- The startup plans to build the next AWS for AI agents and intends to expand its team by hiring systems engineers and infrastructure engineers.
