Swedish defence tech startup TERASi has raised €11 million in seed funding. NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) and Join Capital co-led the round.
- TERASi is spinout from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, co-founded by James Campion and Bernhard Beuerle in 2020.
- The company develops hardware for tactical communications using its patented AirCore technology. Its millimeter-wave devices use a high-frequency spectrum to provide fast, secure wireless links.
- According to TERASi, the devices can be integrated with any tactical platform and deployed on tripods or drones within minutes. The company says its links can transmit huge volumes of data up to 50 times faster than satellite connections over distances exceeding 100 km.
- TERASi's customers include the Swedish Armed Forces, the European Space Agency and European telecoms providers.
- New investors In-Q-Tel and D3 jound the round, alongside returning backers Navigare Ventures, Almi Invest, STING, Onsight Ventures, Further Than Capital, and KTH Ventures.
- TERASi plans to use the funding to deploy its technology more widely, expand its engineering and field teams, develops new mm-wave-based products, and integrate them into a single system.
