Nanordica Medical lands €1.6M to advance antibiotic-free wound care technology

Estonian medtech company Nanordica Medical, which develops nanotechnology-based antibacterial wound dressings for chronic and infected wounds, has secured €1.6 million in funding led by 2C Ventures with support from Specialist VC, Superangel, Amalfi, the Health Founders syndicate, and the EstBAN syndicate.

  • Founded in 2019, Nanordica Medical develops antibacterial wound care products using nanotechnology for the treatment of chronic and infected wounds.
  • The company produces a silk nanofibre wound dressing combined with its Premotiv® technology, which delivers antimicrobial nanoparticles directly to the wound site to reduce bacterial infection while supporting tissue healing.
  • It works by creating a wound-contact layer that inhibits bacterial growth and promotes closure without relying on traditional antibiotics or high-dose silver agents.
  • Clinical studies in Estonian hospitals, including randomized trials on diabetic foot ulcers, have shown faster healing and fewer adverse effects compared with standard antibacterial dressings.

Details of the deal

  • The aim of the fresh round is to fund Nanordica Medical’s clinical and regulatory progress for its Premotiv wound dressing, including completing its ongoing large clinical trial, securing CE marking, and preparing for the commercial launch of its antibiotic-free chronic wound treatment in Europe.

“Nanordica has built a clinically proven alternative that doesn't rely on antibiotics, doesn't compromise healing, and leaves a significantly smaller environmental footprint. We backed the team because they had both the science and the conviction to see this through," claims Martin Koppel, Founding Partner at 2C Ventures.
