Irish firm Luna Systems raises €1.5M to bring AI rider assistance to cyclists and motorcyclists

Dublin-based firm Luna Systems, which develops AI-powered camera systems that improve safety for cyclists and motorcyclists through real-time alerts and post-ride analysis, has secured €1.5 million in funding from Fundracer Capital, EIT Urban Mobility, and Enterprise Ireland.

  • Founded in 2020 by Andrew Fleury and Maria Diviney, Luna Systems (Zentrack Ltd.) develops AI-powered safety systems for bicycles and motorcycles. The company designs and deploys Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) that combine in-ride monitoring with post-ride analysis to improve rider safety.
  • For bicycles, Luna’s single and dual AI camera systems detect blind spots, close passes, and headway distances in real time, providing visual and audio alerts to increase situational awareness. After the ride, the system records proximity events and maps black spots, allowing riders to plan safer routes.
  • For motorcycles and other powered two-wheelers, Luna’s ARAS offers features such as headway monitoring, forward collision warnings, and pothole detection, giving riders extra reaction time in high-risk situations. Post-ride AI safety coaching reconstructs ride scenarios to help riders learn safer manoeuvres.
  • The company’s technology runs on low-power, cost-constrained hardware optimized for edge AI processing, enabling integration with e-bikes, motorcycles, and OEM systems while maintaining real-time performance. Luna collaborates with global OEMs and technology partners, including Qualcomm Technologies, to develop scalable, customised safety solutions for urban mobility.

Details of the deal

  • Luna Systems will use the €1.5 million funding to develop production-ready AI camera hardware for cyclists and motorcyclists, launch its first consumer-facing cycling product with real-time safety alerts and post-ride risk analysis, and expand OEM-integrated ARAS solutions for e-bikes and motorcycles, enabling manufacturers to adopt advanced rider safety technology efficiently.

"We're delighted and honored to have Fundracer B.V. join our adventure - every member of the team there has made a massive contribution to the cycling industry and we are so lucky to benefit from their guidance. And of course as always extremely grateful for the continued support of EIT Urban Mobility and Enterprise Ireland," Luna Systems' team, commented on Linkedin.
