Estonian spacetech company Golbriak Space, which develops laser communication systems for space and airborne applications, has raised €4 million in a seed round co-led by Join Capital and PhotonVentures, with participation from Takeoff.
- Founded in 2017 by Simone Briatore and Nicola Garzaniti, Golbriak Space develops optical communication technology for satellites and airborne platforms. The company designs and manufactures laser communication terminals that simplify integration and enable high-capacity data transmission.
- Its product portfolio includes ERMESAI+, designed for space applications, and ARES, developed for airborne platforms. Both products use a common software-defined architecture aimed at simplifying the integration and deployment of optical communications across different platforms and networks.
- Golbriak Space said it has already deployed functioning products and serves paying customers, with demand growing for large-scale satellite constellation deployments.
Details of the deal
- The investment was made into the company’s Italian holding entity, Iribits S.r.l., and will support the development and industrialization of its Estonian operating subsidiary, Golbriak Space OÜ.
- With the fresh capital, Golbriak Space aims to scale production of its optical communication terminals as it advances commercial negotiations for programs involving several thousand systems. The company is preparing deployments across multiple commercial space programs from 2027, while also expanding its airborne applications.
