Swiss construction tech startup Foldcast has secured €160,000 (CHF 150,000) in funding from Venture Kick to advance its recyclable paper mould technology and support its transition from technology validation to commercial deployment.
- Founded in 2024 by Fabio Amicarelli and Ena Lloret-Fritschi, Foldcast is a spin-off of Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) developing flexible, recyclable paper moulds for more material-efficient concrete construction.
- The company combines design software, structural optimisation, and digital manufacturing to create customised concrete elements that place material where it is structurally needed. Its approach aims to reduce concrete consumption and associated CO₂ emissions while enabling greater design flexibility.
- Foldcast is initially targeting sustainability-focused real estate developers and institutional asset owners in Switzerland and across Europe. In the longer term, the startup plans to collaborate with precast concrete manufacturers as production and licensing partners.
Details of the deal
- With the new funding, Foldcast plans to complete two pilot projects, develop a minimum viable product for its software, establish industrial production partnerships in Switzerland, and strengthen its sales and business development activities.
