French Certo, a B2B AI RegTech startup focused on regulatory compliance for consumer packaged goods and beauty brands, has raised a $4 million seed round led by Daphni, with participation from Entrepreneurs First, Motier Ventures, and Transpose Platform, as Vestbee was informed.
- Founded in 2023 by Bastien Deliège-Coste and Jean Duquenne, Certo builds an AI compliance system for consumer packaged goods companies. It automates regulatory checks across over 70 markets, covering five modules: ingredient validation, formula compliance, claims review, labelling, and market-entry documentation.
- The platform ingests product and regulatory data, structures it into standardized formats, and runs AI-driven checks using a proprietary regulatory database and source-cited rules.
- It also generates regulatory documents such as SDS, PIF, and CPSR, while continuously monitoring legal updates and automatically re-running impacted checks.
- The system is built around key frameworks including EU 1223/2009, REACH, IFRA, and FDA MoCRA, replacing manual compliance workflows with automated, auditable reviews that reduce assessment time from days to minutes.

Details of the deal
- The new investment will allow Certo to expand its engineering and in-house regulatory teams, strengthen and broaden its multi-market regulatory coverage, accelerate development of its AI-powered compliance platform across all five product modules, and scale its commercial presence across Europe and the United States.
