Warsaw-based Wonder Legends Studio has raised $1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by SMOK Ventures, with participation from business angels. The funding will help the studio expand its team and strengthen its brand in the global entertainment market.
- Established in 2023 by Artur Malczyk and Wojciech Karubin, Wonder Legends Studio develops transmedia projects, including video games and animated series, using Unreal Engine to create immersive and narratively rich worlds.
- Wonder Legends Studio is developing a game prototype and an animated series set in a world blending Greek mythology and steampunk, using Unreal Engine 5. Both the game and the series are set to launch in late 2027 or early 2028 as part of a transmedia experience.
Details of the deal
- The investment was led by the Polish early-stage fund SMOK Ventures. In January 2024, the firm closed a $25 million fund to invest in CEE founders.
"The investment from SMOK Ventures is the perfect addition to this long, but still only initial, phase of building a strong brand in the entertainment industry," co-founder of Wonder Legends Studio, Wojciech Karubin, stated.
- The funding round will enable WLS to develop its transmedia IP further, expand the team, enhance production quality, and build a strong brand in the entertainment industry.
