- Yet another London VC Synthesis Capital grabs $300M for its new foodtech and alternative protein-focused fund. The firm will put an average of $15M into each company and will consider opportunities all over the globe.
- Califronia-based 1Sharpe Ventures launches its first $90M fund to back proptech startups. The firm will back pre-seed to series A startups throughout North and Latin America as well as Europe. The average check size of theirs ranges from $500k to $2M.
CEE Startup Funding Rounds & Acquisitions
- Czech data lineage and management platform Manta raises $35M series B to fund furhter growth and product development. The round was led by Forestay Capital and followed by Bessemer Venture Partners, SAP.iO, Senovo, Credo Ventures as well as European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
- Bulgarian text and data analytics deeptech Ontotext gets acquired in a €30M overtake by Integral Venture Partners. The investment group aims to further the company’s international expansion across the globe and the US in particular.
- Polish fulfillment robotics startup Nomagic picks up $22M series A to expand internationally. The round was led by Khosla Ventures, Almaz Capital and European Investment Bank and joined by previous investors among DN Capital, Capnamic Ventures and Manta Ray
- Polish AI customer service automation platform for ecommerce Zowie closes a $14M series A to fund its growth in the US and build up its revenue team. The round was led by Tiger Global and Google’s Gradient Ventures.
- Czech tenant experience startup Spaceflow raises €8M round to continue product development and expand across the Nordics, Benelux, DACH and UK. The investment was made by Hydda Group.
- Romanian second-hand phone platform for electronics Flip raises €6.5M to attract new customers and build its presence within CEE. The funding was made by eMAG Ventures,
- Romanian game design startup Machinations.io, gets a $3.3M series A to upscale its hiring and development efforts. The funding was made by Hiro Capital and follow-uped by Acequia Capital, Venrex and Gapminder.
- Estonian security and cargo screening deeptech GScan nabs a €1.4M to finalize its R&D and ship the first prototypes. The investment was made by Amalfi Capital Management, Hansa Grupp and Sillever OÜ.
- Lithuanian ERP solutions provider Alna Business Solutions gets acquired by Latvian business process digitization company Digital Mind to expand its offerings. The size of the transaction remains undisclosed.
- Bulgrian healthtech startup Kardi AI raises a €350k pre-seed round to start shipping its product across Czechia. The round was led by BrightCap Ventures and Depo Ventures.
Startup Calls
- The World’s second-largest steel producer Arcelor Mittal launches an XCarb Accelerator focusing on steel industry decarbonization. The group will consider proposals from all over the world and submissions are due on the 20th of June.
- A talent board Jooble launches an incubator for projects having the potential of complementing its core business. The company will invest anywhere from $100k to $2M into each company at pre-seed to series A stages. - EIT Food launches an equity-free Sales Booster program for agrifood startups across CEE. The program will help teams with coaching, network and know-how for the European-wise expansion. The deadline for submissions is set for June 19th.
- Tech conference Infoshare is calling for applications for its startup contest. The winner will receive a €20k prize as well as have a chance of pitching in front of investors and land media coverage for your venture. The applications are open till the 30th of June.
- Carpathian Startup Fest 2022 starts accepting applications for its next edition. The prize pool is nearing 100k PLN and the applications are open for idea-stage and post-MVP startups from Poland. The deadline to join is set for the 12th of August.
- Poland’s first blockchain sandbox starts gathering participants for its program. The goal of the platform is to enable the local, HLF-based solutions and products with various aspects of development. The applications are open to post-MVP projects and will be considered on a rolling basis.
- The Polish Investment and innovation agency (PAIH) starts searching for local startups to represent the county during the Oslo Innovation Week. The PAIHs team will especially focus on IT, FinTech, Smart City, Proptech and related sectors. Find out more here.
- GovTech Baltic tech leaders will be hosting a sector-focused conference in Vilnius on the 16th of June. Participants get a chance to attend various keynotes, fireside chats, and network on everything enabling the Gov-tech space!
