Berlin-based training app TRAIT has raised €1 million in a seed funding round. Investors include German venture capital firm High-Tech Gründerfonds and investors from better ventures angel club.
- TRAIT, first named twaiv, was founded in 2011 by Raphael Jung and Matthias Ettrich. The startup is dedicated to adaptable training programs for runners, produced by AI. TRAIT creates customized workout plans and provides online coaching for its users.
“With TRAIT, we have developed an app that is as empathetic and understanding as a human coach would be. We help people get back into sport. We combine sports science and AI training with real social, mutual supportiveness,” said Raphael Jung, CEO of TRAIT.
- The investment came from German High-Tech Gründerfonds, a seed investor for tech startups, and better ventures, an angel early-stage investment club based in Munich.
- HTGF has supported more than 750 startups since 2005; its latest investment was in a German e-learning startup, doinstruct.
“We are excited about TRAIT’s vision and approach to creating an empathetic and adaptive AI training platform for athletes. It’s designed to strengthen individuals not just physically, but also mentally,” shared Johannes Dierkes, Investment Manager at HTGF.
- The funding is going to help TRAIT with the further development of its app to provide a more personalized training experience for runners.
