top 100 women in vc in cee by vestbee.com

In recent years we can observe a significant transformation in the business landscape, as more and more powerful women worldwide rise to prominent positions. This shift is steering us toward a more gender-inclusive and equitable business environment. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that the startup and venture capital landscape remains significantly influenced by gender biases, with a predominant bias favoring men. Harvard Business Review reports that women-led startups receive less than 3% of all venture capital investments. This statistic underscores the urgent need for change - many leaders are advocating for more women's involvement in the VC space, putting forth institutions that can enable them to break the glass ceiling and secure those GP and LP positions, historically and unfortunately often reserved for men. Contrary to popular beliefs associating rationality strictly with men and emotional decision-making with women, recent McKinsey research challenges these stereotypes. The study reveals that businesses led by women, individuals from underrepresented racial or ethnic groups, or both are more likely to perform better, meeting or exceeding organizational expectations.

The Women in VC report further supports the case for increased gender diversity in VC leadership. It highlights that venture capital funds with women in senior management teams consistently outperform those without female representation. Moreover, funds managed by mixed-gender teams exhibit a higher annual internal rate of return. This positive perspective suggests promising developments in the near future, with almost half of European venture capital firms anticipating a rise in the number of female GPs over the next five years.

Turning our focus to the Central and Eastern European region, we are witnessing rapid development in both the internal capital markets of various countries as well as the rise of the unifying efforts by multiple institutions in the VC landscape. Notably, initiatives led by Vestbee contribute to making knowledge about the CEE region more accessible.

In this article, we proudly present the top 100 most prominent women shaping the VC landscape in our region, aiming to amplify these women's voices and bring forward their inspiring activities and achievements.
