UK's healthcare firm The Medical Travel Company raises $4.5M seed funding round

London-based The Medical Travel Company, which arranges UK-supervised medical treatments in India with full care and insurance, has raised $4.5 million in a seed funding round led by Nexus Venture Partners.

  • The Medical Travel Company (TMTC) was founded in 2024 by Sahil Jain and Ankit Mehrotra. The firm facilitates medical travel between the UK and India, targeting patients facing long waits for elective procedures or high costs for private care.
  • TMTC provides a structured pathway in which UK patients consult with UK and Indian doctors, travel to India for treatment in internationally accredited hospitals, and receive comprehensive aftercare including physiotherapy, nutrition support, and recovery suites.
  • UK doctors remain involved throughout the process, and patients are offered a 12-month post-treatment insurance policy valid in the UK. Treatments cover areas such as orthopaedics, dental care, fertility and IVF, and wellness diagnostics, with the company claiming cost savings of up to 70% compared with UK private care.
  • TMTC’s model combines clinical oversight, travel logistics, and continuity of care to address inefficiencies in traditional medical tourism.

Details of the deal

  • The investment was led by Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from Kriscore Capital and 4CAST, the athlete-led collective co-founded by Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, and KL Rahul.

“We are delighted to announce our investment in The Medical Travel Company. When we first 4CAST in 2021 we wanted our collective of athletes to be able to partner with innovative businesses and great founders. We feel we have done so here and we are excited to back Ankit and Sahil and look forward to supporting their journey ahead with TMTC," explains Ben Stokes, founder of 4CAST and captain of the England Test team.

  • The firm plans to expand clinical partnerships, build technology for seamless patient care, and provide end-to-end, UK-doctor-led medical travel services, including treatment in India, post-surgery insurance, and personalized aftercare.
