Sunfish Partners, an early-stage VC based in Berlin and Warsaw, has launched its Sunfish CEE II fund to support tech startups in the CEE region at the pre-seed and seed stages. The fund will focus on startups in the health, data, space, and defence industries.
- Founded in 2016 by Marcus Erken, Max Moldenhauer, and Christian Weiss, Sunfish Partners is a venture capital firm that invests in deep tech startups across Eastern Europe, with ticket sizes ranging between €250,000 and €500,000.
- The firm’s portfolio includes 17 investments, featuring cybersecurity startup 1Security, health startup Aether Biomedical, and space tech company Liftero, as well as 2 successful exits: Perfops and Alphamoon.
- The Sunfish CEE II fund aims to continue investing at the pre-seed and seed stages in deeptech startups, with a focus on health, data, space, and defence industries.
- With the Sunfish CEE II fund, the firm plans to allocate 50% of its support to startups in Poland and the remaining 50% to other Central and Eastern European countries. The firm also plans to soon announce its first investment in the Czech Republic.

- The second fund received backing from a prominent group of entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and investors, including Nikolaos Baltsios, Marek Bardoński, Peter Baudrexl, Jens Begemann, and Caroline Berger.
