Polish SP Tech Solutions secures €2.7M to develop solutions for rail transportation firms

SP Tech Solutions has raised over €2.7 million (PLN 12 million) investment from Vinci HiTech fund. The proceeds will support the startup’s international growth and technological development. SP Tech Solutions shared the details of the deal with Vestbee.

  • Established in 2019 by Michal Pawlowski and Piotr Sikorski, SP Tech Solutions develops Raily Suite, an IT system for companies that utilize railroad transportation, which is aimed to help them decrease operational costs, automate processes, improve logistics, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • There are three application tools in the Raily system:
  1. Raily Cargo is a software based on business intelligence solutions for the operation of railway company resources.
  2. Raily Marketplace is a platform that helps customers to search and book various services like arranging train inspections and hiring qualified locomotive drivers.
  3. Raily Taxi is an IT solution that connects drivers and rail employees to automate the management of road transport services.
  • SP Tech Solutions claims that its revenue has grown remarkably in the past two years, hitting around €9.52 million (PLN 40 million) in 2023. To date, companies such as PKP Cargo, Lotos Kolej, and Laude Smart Intermodal are using the startup’s solutions.
  • The current round of funding was led by Vinci HiTech fund, supervised by Vinci S.A. It is a venture capital fund that provides capital to early development and mature enterprise from different sectors, including car industry, space industry, energy sector, IT industry, and more.

“The SP Tech Solutions team understands the needs of the railway sector very well, thanks to Michał's and Piotr's many years of experience in this industry. The digital solutions they offer address key challenges facing the rail sector, including optimizing trip planning, reducing operating costs and automating business processes. In a global context, where markets strive for sustainability and CO2 reduction, the innovations introduced by SP Tech Solutions align with the strategic goals related to the future of rail transportation,” stated Piotr Wolinski, CEO of Vinci S.A., which manages the Vinci HiTech fund.

  • With the fresh capital, SP Tech Solutions aims to expand its operation in Poland and Germany and widen its reach across the West of Europe. Additionally, the startup plans to work towards advancing the technology behind Raily and expand its IT team.
