Interesting Startups From Serbia Worth Your Attention

We have already explored Estonian, Latvian, Hungarian, Slovenian, Romanian, Czech, Bulgarian, Polish, Lithuanian and Croatian and Slovakian startups. Now let’s move on to the Serbian startup scene and discover interesting solutions that have been launched in this growing tech ecosystem.

Tenderly

Tenderly is a Belgrade-based startup founded in 2018 providing an end-to-end Ethereum developer platform that enables teams and companies to build innovative blockchain products. The platform is used both by startups and corporates in managing their development process. The company has raised 12.8M EUR in a Series A round led by Accel and a group of angel investors. The funding will be used to expand their offering and further develop their products and services as well as acquire talented professionals. 

Agremo

Agremo is a solution for agriculture and forestry professionals that helps with building a competitive advantage in the market. This cloud-based platform provides precise field data thanks to use of artificial intelligence, computer vision and machine learning - those analytics and software allow professionals to improve agricultural processes. 

Blinking

Blinking is a blockchain-based solution that on the one hand helps companies identify, verify and certify users and on the other hand gives them control and ownership over their private data. This digital identification platform also allows companies to manage data and implement onboarding and authentication processes. Blinking has raised 2.2M EUR in 3 funding rounds so far.

FishingBooker 

FishingBooker is the world's largest marketplace for booking fishing trips. The company was founded in 2013 and since then is a place where users can discover and plan activities related to fishing. Currently, it operates in over 100 countries offering over 30000 trips with the possibility to pick the location, date and number of people you want to travel with. Results can be filtered by e.g. duration, price, type of fishing, fishing techniques. The company raised over 50k EUR in funding over 2 seed rounds.

Hunch

Hunch is a media buying platform that helps brands and agencies to grow on paid social. This solution automates the production of digital ads as well as media buying. Marketers use this tool to build contextual customer journey and increase engagement of users, since 2017 Hunch has helped hundreds of brands to drive their social commerce marketing. The startup is focusing on Facebook and Instagram, as it is a certified global Facebook business partner. In March 2020 Hunch raised 1.3M EUR in a seed round. 

Joberty

Joberty is a workplace community for developers. Thanks to the network opportunities and insights from reviews and discussions concerning experiences in different companies, developers can find a workplace meeting their requirements and make the right career choices. There are 30k professionals and 600 tech companies registered on Joberty. In August 2021 it raised over 300k EUR in a pre-seed round. 

Trickest 

Trickest is a startup founded in 2020 that offers a platform for bug bounty hunters, security researchers, penetration testers, and SecOps teams that builds and automates workflows from start to finish. With the development of the startup’s infrastructure, it’s easy to notice the growing importance of security automation, that is why Trickest ensures full transparency and control over all company’s projects. The platform enables automation and collaboration to help teams work more efficiently. Trickest has raised 1.5M EUR in funding over 2 rounds.

CarGo

CarGo was founded in 2015 in Belgrade with a goal to connect and modernize the Serbian market. It started with a ridesharing mobile app, however soon after that startup expanded its offering and currently they offer various services: GarGo Mobility, Butler - food delivery and CarGo Medical - with this card you get discounts in more than 1,500 healthcare institutions throughout Serbia. The next step is GarGo Pay which they are planning to launch soon. Now, this leading mobile platform in Serbia connects more than 850,000 people within the CarGo Citizens' Association. 

Nordeus

Nordeus is a mobile game developer founded in 2010. Their first game was Top Eleven, which now is the world's most successful mobile game in the football management category, it lets you create and manage your own club to beat other competitors in a game. In their portfolio you will find 2 more games: Heroic and Golden Boot. As Nordeus wants to drive digital transformation in Serbia, it co-founded non-government organizations: Digital Serbia Initiative and Serbian Games Association and Nordeus Hub, a free co-working space for people in the gaming industry. Recently the startup has been bought by Take-Two Interactive Software for 367M EUR, however, the founders will still be running the company.

Strawberry energy 

Strawberry energy is a company that develops different urban furniture for smart and sustainable cities. Their flagship product Smart Bench powered by solar energy allows people to use WiFi or charge their phone, moreover, it monitors air quality and provides local info in public spaces. The solution was recognised and rewarded in many competitions, among them 1st prize at the European Commission’s Sustainable Energy Week 2011 or ‘Connecting People and Creating Communities’ competition, organised by the Institute for Sustainability in partnership with the Mayor of London’s Office. Currently, their benches are available in more than 50 cities across 23 countries around the world.

Peaksel

Peaksel is a startup funded in 2021 working in the mobile game industry. It specializes in developing, publishing and marketing mobile games and apps for Android and iOS devices. Its portfolio consists of over 300 mobile apps and games that were downloaded more than 300 million times. The company was singled out among 2017 Red Herring Europe winners, in Huawei Best Game 2020 and took part in Google for Startups program in 2019. So far, they don't have external investors. 

FitPass 

FitPass is a motivational system used by both the private and public sectors that enables employees to get access to a large number of sports activities. FitPass subscription gives access to over 650 sports facilities in Serbia, so users don't have to commit only to one place or discipline. Startup gives value to both parties, it increases loyalty and productivity of employees and helps them to stay in shape and keep a work-life banalce. In 2019 Groupe Up acquired a 20% stake in the company for an undisclosed sum.

Mad Head Games 

Mad Head Games is a game developer founded in 2011 in Novi Sad with a specialization in HOPA (Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure) games. They are developing games for Android, iOS, PC and Mac from different genres a.o. action, hidden object, adventure, mystery or casual. In total, they have created 66 games, and are constantly growing and adding new titles to their portfolio. In 2016 Mad head Games was singled out as the best developer by All About Casual Games.
