Krakow-based Digital Ocean Ventures, a venture capital firm specializing in early-stage investments in fintech and digital transformation startups, has completed a €10.6 million (PLN 45 million) fund with its second close, supported by PFR Ventures and WP2 Investments.
- Founded in 2021 by Magda Olczak-Nowicka, Adam Bartkiewicz, Piotr Widacki, and Marcin Musiał, Digital Ocean Ventures is a venture capital firm dedicated to supporting pre-seed and seed-stage startups specializing in fintech and digital transformation across Poland and the CEE region.
- The first closing was supported by PFR Ventures, which invested €47 million (PLN 200 million) in four early-stage venture capital funds, including Digital Ocean Ventures. These funds will support startups until 2029, with an additional four years allocated for the divestment phase.
- The Digital Ocean Ventures Fund aims to invest in around 15 pre-seed startups, with initial investments of up to €700,000 (3 million PLN). Follow-on investments can reach up to €1 million (5 million PLN) per startup.
- The second closing was supported by PFR Ventures, Poland's Development Financial Institution, which provides capital to venture capital and private equity funds and manages over PLN 3 billion in assets.
- Additionally, WP2 Investments, a VC firm that supports startups at the pre-seed, seed, and Series A stages, also backed the closing. WP2 focuses on startups in fintech and impact tech, including medtech, sports tech, edtech, and green energy sectors.
"Digital Ocean Ventures Starter has developed an investment policy according to which it is looking for companies from the fintech and digital transformation sectors, so it is very much in line with our strategic assumptions for the development of WP2 Investments," co-founder of WP2, Wojciech Pysiewicz, commented.
