Berlin's VC Cherry Ventures raises $500M fund to back companies at Series B and beyond

Berlin-based VC firm Cherry Ventures has raised $500 million for its fifth fund. The money is split between its Early Stage fund and an opportunity fund to back companies at Series B and beyond. The goal is to help founders build Europe’s first trillion-dollar company.

  • Founded in 2013 by Christian Meermann, Daniel Glasner, and Filip Felician Dames, Cherry Ventures is a venture capital firm with offices in Berlin, London, and Stockholm.
  • The firm invests in early-stage companies led by founders tackling critical societal, environmental, and business challenges. To date, the firm has backed over 130 companies, including FlixBus, Auto1, Juni, Moss, and Carbo Culture.

"We have all the right ingredients: world-class talent, research depth in critical technologies, and thriving tech hubs — but our culture of innovation must change. With new world leaders in power and strong mandates for the tech sector, it’s imperative that Europe takes charge of its own destiny in the global tech race," Cherry's team explains in the announcement.

  • Cherry V plans to divide the $500 million fund between an Early Stage fund and an opportunity fund, which will support promising companies at Series B and beyond.
  • The fresh fund saw support from prominent investors, including Ilkka Paananen, Founder of Supercell, Miki Kuusi, Founder of Wolt, and Jochen Engert, Founder of FlixBus, as well as other key figures in the global tech ecosystem.

"Cherry V is a commitment to patience and persistence, enabling founders to create lasting value over time. Partnering with Cherry at the early stage significantly increases your chance of success: over 80% of our seed founders graduate to Series A," Cherry's team says.
