Rotterdam-based Blue Radix raises €5M for commercial growth

Rotterdam-based Blue Radix, which uses AI to automate greenhouse management and optimize crop growth, has raised €5 million to accelerate its commercial growth. The investment came from Navus Ventures and Horticoop.

  • Established in 2019 by Ronald Hoek and Laurens van der Spek, Blue Radix develops AI-driven solutions designed to automate daily greenhouse tasks. The company helps growers streamline operations, making greenhouse management more efficient and less reliant on manual labor.
  • The startup's technology, the Crop Controller, effectively manages climate and irrigation, enabling growers to optimize their crop strategies while reducing manual labor by 80%. This solution addresses the global shortage of skilled growers and promotes sustainable food production.
  • Blue Radix’s Crop Controller, used in nearly 100 greenhouses worldwide, boosts yields and saves energy, offering returns of up to 10 times the investment and driving significant expansion for the company.

  • The round was backed by Navus Ventures, a Dutch venture capital firm that invests in high-tech startups focused on sustainable food and energy transitions, and Bleiswijk-based Horticoop, a cooperative that helps horticultural businesses with supplies, services, and support.

"With their proven track record, we’re pleased to provide financial support to the company once again and help them with our knowledge and network, to make a global impact on sustainable food production and energy management," Director of Navus Ventures, Eduard Meijer, commented.

  • Blue Radix will use the €5 million investment to accelerate commercial growth by expanding its team and enhancing its autonomous growing solutions to better support growers.
