Paris-based agritech SaaS startup Alvie provides AI-powered sensor solutions to optimize pesticide use and promote adopting biocontrol products for sustainable farming. The firm has raised €2.1 million in a seed funding round led by Tilia Impact Ventures, as Vestbee was informed.
- Founded in 2020 by Nadir Ghrous, Edita Bezeg, and Theo Kazmierczak, Alvie offers HYGO, a digital platform designed to optimize pesticide application.
- HYGO provides data-driven advice on the timing, technique, and mixture of plant protection products, helping farmers improve efficiency and reduce dosages.
- The platform promotes biocontrols, reduces harmful chemicals, and supports healthier soils and biodiversity, serving farmers across Western and Central Eastern Europe, including France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
- Alvie claims that its solution can reduce pesticide use by up to 30% without impacting crop yields, contributing to more sustainable farming practices.
"Our solution HYGO empowers him to make the best plant protection decisions. We designed HYGO to be actionable and make economic sense as of today at most of the farms around the world," co-founder and CPO of Alvie, Nadir Ghrous, commented in a press release.
Details of the deal
- The funding round was led by Tilia Impact Ventures, a Prague-based seed-stage venture capital fund that recently raised €30 million for CEE founders focused on climate, education, and healthcare.
"Alvie’s data-driven approach has the potential to optimize the use of plant protection and pesticide usage more effectively than other players, supporting sustainable farming, contributing to shifting farmer’s mindset and behaviors towards more sustainable practices, hence boosting biodiversity effects," claims Petr Vítek, Partner at Tilia Impact Ventures in a statement.
- The investment received backing from Better Angles, Leia Capital, Climate Club, and BeAngles, along with prominent Agritech business angels such as Guillaume Jourdain, Damien Lepoutre, Jérôme Gallois, Jean-Paul Devey, and Francis Nappez.
- Alvie will use the €2.1 million in funding to accelerate product development, enhance its digital platform, HYGO, and expand its market presence across Europe.
