Dutch 4impact Capital closes €68M fund to support startups in Northwestern Europe

The Hague-based 4impact Capital, a venture capital firm supporting tech startups that address issues related to the planet and people, has closed its €68 million Fund II to support around 25 startups in Northwestern Europe. Investors include the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, Invest-NL, the European Investment Fund (EIF), and Oost NL.

  • Established in 2019 by Ali Najafbagy and Pauline Wink, 4impact Capital is a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage digital startups across Europe. 
  • The firm focuses on companies driving sustainability and impact, particularly in the areas of Planet and People, and invests in Seed and Series A stages in the Benelux, DACH, and Nordics regions.
  • 4impact Fund II is an SFDR Article 9 fund that invests in early-stage digital and sustainability-focused ventures in Northwestern Europe. The fund seeks to address global challenges with scalable solutions while generating strong financial returns, targeting 25 transformative investments across the region.
  • To date, the fund has supported six ventures, including Coolgradient, which optimizes energy and water use in data centers; Deftpower, which balances the grid with EV batteries; and Carbonfuture, a leader in carbon removal credits, which recently secured Series A funding led by the Swiss Stock Exchange.

  • The fund received support from Invest-NL, the Amsterdam-based National Financing and Development Institution, the EIF, part of the European Investment Bank Group, Oost NL, the development agency supporting business growth in Eastern Netherlands, and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
